There was Broadway in the air on January 16th as the Sneads Ferry Community Theatre opened its doors to all of the hard working volunteers that make theatre happen in the Ferry! John Pratt emceed the elegant affair that included short excerpts from various plays and songs performed by M. Aaron Sowers, Cameron Hansen and Zack Watkins.
Patrick Raynor stood out from the crowd at the 2016 SFCT volunteer awards gala, taking the People’s Choice and Jeller awards for playing Billy Carewe in the May 2015 production of Play On!. He also walked away with the 2015 Best Performer Jeller. Ani Crochet took the People’s Choice and Jeller awards for her portrayal of Gracie Martin in A Wind Between the Houses, directed by Irene King. Cameron Hansen received the People’s Choice award for her role, Denise Sanders, in the musical Smoke on the Mountain and Sue Ferber walked away with the Jeller as Vera Sanders. The musical was directed by John Pratt. The Best Production award went to Play On! under the direction of Sue Ferber.
The Julia S. Eller award that annually honors exemplary leadership, commitment and dedication to the theatre was awarded to Tania Gonzalez who was also the chair of this year’s gala.
